Our development programmes are grounded in published research, preclinical studies and early clinical evaluation. Together, these findings support the continued development of our influenza vaccine platform and manufacturing technologies.
Clinical milestone: Phase I evaluation completed
UniFluVec has undergone a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase I study in healthy adults, evaluating safety, tolerability and reactogenicity following intranasal administration at two dose levels. The results provide an early clinical foundation for further development.
Preclinical evidence: protection against H5N1 in ferrets
A study published in Vaccine in 2025 demonstrated protection against the highly pathogenic influenza A/Indonesia/5/2005 (H5N1) strain following a single intranasal administration of UniFluVec. The study reported 100% survival in the UniFluVec-vaccinated challenge group, alongside improved viral clearance and reduced lung damage.
These findings provide preclinical evidence of cross-subtype protection and support further evaluation of the vaccine candidate.
Manufacturing research: the AEX-1 cell platform
Research published in Vaccine in 2026 characterized AEX-1, a Vero-derived cell line with improved productivity for selected influenza viruses compared with parental Vero cells. The study also demonstrated efficient replication of UniFluVec based vectors, supporting further development of a cell-based production approach.
Our vaccine candidates remain investigational. Preclinical protection and early clinical safety findings provide a basis for further studies; protective efficacy in humans remains to be established.
